Growing up in NZ, then travelling and living in several countries educated John to the good, bad and the ugly of modern living and cities. Now 65, a newly minted pensioner he is passionate about healthy living and creative log building.
"Our planet is undergoing massive change and when one knows what I know, to do nothing just doesn't feel right.
The Radiant Life Village concept is my green initiative and I think that it ticks all the boxes for people like us. Creating alternative healthy living space, agricultural & forestry employment and the foundations for healthy communities is empowering this pensioner.."
Johns been involved in several startups and his first commercial land building development began in 2004 with the purchase of 17 acres in Huia, West Auckland, New Zealand.
Tehuia is a more conventional eco developement and like everything one does for the 1st time, it came with a steep learning curve.
Over the years of the developement he met many, many people looking for innovative green design and a better lifestyle options. Its here that his log home, Twin Peaks, took shape and ultimately the Tehuia EON and now Radiant Life Villages.
The Tehuia property devlopement in a small coastal village, allowed John to begin his log building journey. With help he designed and built Tehuia Twin Peaks. "It was a very 'hands on old style crafting' process.
We selectively logged the timber using draft-horse logging, milled our own timber and built by hand, the scribe-fit Twin Peaks. Over the years I was constantly asked for a small simple log cabin. The demand was increasing for smaller more ecologically based dwellings. Probably a pre cursor to the 'tiny house movement'. This provided me with motivation for the Tehuia EON concept".
The flat pack modula eco log frame EON has proven itself as great guest accommodation and a permanent living structure amoungst the trees on the windy West Coast of New Zealand. Its designed on a 'cradle to cradle' philosophy where we plant the trees for future generations to harvest and build their own communities. A zero waste carbon neutral circular life-cylce.
This ticks all the boxes for those seeking healthy lifestyles while making a positive contribution to a sustainable future.
Free energy, interesting living space, long lasting, economical, easy build, safe and secure. Who says we need to live inside expensive poky wee square cells with vertical walls and zero space between neighbours.
Heres some other interesting shaped buildings around the world.
Exercise, yoga, organic produce, a positive life purpose, wholistic medicine and friendly community make for a potent health & longevity elixer. However its not all about peace loving wholistic organic thinkers.
We come from all walks of life, all countries and faiths. Its a live and let live village concept Importantly, residents all share and are committed to creating better societies through making conscious choices. Welcoming and nurturing all humanity and all life forms and in so doing, finding that natural balance and connection associated with health & wellbeing.
Whatever your interest, residents with various skills and interests are welcome to share their experience and knowledge. We arrive here from all paths and welcome all. It takes a village and everyone has something to give.
"Business and other human endevours are bound by invisible fabrics of inter related actions, which often take years to fully play out their affects on each other." (Peter M. Seige)
We've learnt a lot over the last 60 years(thousand) and putting that experience and knowledge to good use is our aspirational endevour with Radiant Life Villages.
When living in california, the 240 unit Village Homes 1981 sub division in Davis, California by developer Micheal Corbett, was my introduction to 'whole systems thinking' as it relates to modern community building.
A proven successful formula we can replicate. through growing beautiful sustainable architecture, astute building placement, regenerative agriculture and Green environmental planning.
Jason comes from dairy farming background but spent most of his working life in forestry. Progressing through the vairous roles into specialized helli logging and then going completely off grid to develope a horse logging business.
Having acquired mostly marginal X forestry land Jason set about regenerating the land into a profitable organic farm.
Quite naturally the forest peace engenders a deep connection with Nature and it became obvious to Jason that horse logging was a thing that he had to explore and master.
